How is your business leveraging the latest AI trends? With the rapid pace of innovation, it’s hard for busy business owners to keep up. But with 62% of organizations at least experimenting with AI agents (Source: McKinsey 2025), now is the time to strategically implement AI so you don’t fall behind.

So what is your next step? To help you formulate a plan, we’ve compiled a list of five AI trends that can help your business succeed.

1. AI agents increase productivity.

In a nutshell, an AI agent is a system that analyzes information, plans what to do with it, and acts on it. There are plenty of beneficial use cases for them, but many business owners start out employing them as virtual assistants. AI agents can transcribe meeting notes, summarize key points, and create action items. They can also draft email responses or proposal responses for employees to review and send. Using an AI agent as an assistant can save you hours every day, allowing you to spend more time on strategic tasks that impact your bottom line, like building relationships with suppliers and customers.

2. Multi-agent systems personalize marketing campaigns.

For more complex tasks, organizations are experimenting with multi-agent systems in which several AI agents share information and work together toward a goal. For example, an online retailer might use this approach to create dynamic, personalized content to drive sales. It could deploy four AI agents:

  1. One to observe what users click on.
  2. One to serve up recommendations based on the viewer’s actions.
  3. One to create customized ads.
  4. And one to determine which ad generates the most sales.

3. Multimodal AI improves customer service.

While customer service chatbots have been around for years, recent advancements in multimodal AI have made them much more human-like and effective. Customers can now submit video, audio, pictures, and/or text to describe an issue with a product, and today’s chatbots can troubleshoot the problem and provide advice on how to fix it. So a car owner who hears a strange noise can record the sound and send it to a service center, instead of having to describe the noise verbally or take their car to a garage. Not only does this save the customer time, but it also allows the business owner to triage the problem more efficiently, since the chatbot can analyze inputs and research the issue more quickly than a human.

4. Assistive search provides deeper insights.

AI has transformed the search process. Before AI, an inquiry would search for keywords and return a list of links that may yield the information the user is looking for. With AI, assistive search understands what the user is looking for, provides the answer, and suggests next steps. It can be extremely helpful for research, trend identification, and uncovering insights. Imagine being able to monitor social media posts to track consumer awareness and sentiment for your company, or using it on internal data to identify customer purchasing trends and predict future behavior. .

5. Generative AI enhances cybersecurity.

Hackers are getting more creative every day, so businesses need every advantage they can find to protect their data. Generative AI can help in several ways. It detects patterns, so it can identify suspicious behavior more quickly and easily than humans. For example, multiple login attempts from an unknown, offshore location, or phishing scams such as urgent emails from unfamiliar addresses asking employees to open attachments. Generative AI can also help employees create stronger system passwords.

Now that we’ve piqued your interest, you may be wondering how to implement one of these AI trends. Most businesses can benefit from more than one, but it’s best to start small by prioritizing which one will have the biggest impact on your organization. Then, determine if you have the right internal talent to help you achieve your goal.

If you don’t, you aren’t alone. Many businesses are turning to student interns to supplement their staff for AI projects. Hiring students provides a host of benefits. Interns are mentored by professors in their fields of study, bringing in-demand skills and fresh perspectives, and cost less than full-time employees or contractors because they work for course credit or a small stipend.

Students apply the skills they’ve learned in the classroom to solve your business problems. For example, engineering student Thu Ta Zaw built the infrastructure for an emotionally intelligent AI chatbot for his employer. The chatbot identified high-intent leads, automated personalized outreach, and improved future chatbot training through stored insights.

Flidais, a tech company based in Toronto, hired an intern through the experiential learning platform Riipen to address their staffing needs. "Working with Riipen made a real difference for us," founder Andrey Maltsev share a non-technical founder, I can’t be great at everything, and having access to talented students filled that gap in a powerful way."
