York University x Ads Standards - Enhancing Scholarship Outreach Plans
The Company
Ad Standards is an independent, not-for-profit organization that is committed to fostering community confidence in Canadian advertising and ensuring the integrity and viability of advertising through effective industry self-regulation.
The Institution
Rachel Surman is a course developer and instructor at York University's School of Continuing Studies in Toronto, Canada. She has developed and instructs a course on Content Promotion & Amplification as part of a new content marketing certificate program.
The Challenge
Every year, Ad Standards offers an English and French $1,500 scholarship for post-secondary learners. To apply, learners must be enrolled in an undergraduate advertising or marketing program at a Canadian university or college. Successful applicants display a commitment to volunteerism, a record of academic excellence, and an interest in pursuing a career in advertising or marketing. Ad Standards was looking to enhance its scholarship outreach plan in order to make more Canadian learners aware of the opportunity and encourage additional applications. Ad Standards and York University used the Riipen platform to connect and facilitate their project.
The Outcome
Each group of learners prepared a presentation that outlined their analysis, findings, recommendations, and solutions for Ad Standards' scholarship outreach plan. Working with Riipen's online platform allowed Ad Standards to connect with the right course for the project in an efficient and easily managed way resulting in insightful and practical ideas.
