Thompson Rivers University and Riipen launch into the second year of their partnership sponsored by RBC Future Launch Foundation
Kamloops, BC December 15, 2020 -- Thompson Rivers University is thrilled to announce our continuing partnership with Riipen, the world’s largest marketplace of work-integrated learning experiences for students. For the second year in a row, Thompson Rivers University was selected as one of the recipients of funding provided by the RBC Future Launch Foundation.
This partnership will be focused on supporting experiential learning across the university: "Riipen is a disruptive innovation that is perfect for post-secondary experiential learning projects. The timing could not be better. My students are now working from home, [...], as such they have limited access to in-class employer-based projects. Riipen has provided me the platform to give students an amazing experience, working with organizations on projects, without having to work face-to-face. The projects can be embedded as part of a course, or can be projects completed co-curricular. This innovative platform allows me (as a university faculty member) to easily source relevant projects with organizations to my students. The Riipen team is responsive and innovative - they work as educational partners to provide the best experience for both instructors as students," says Larry Iles, TRU Career and Experiential Learning Department.
“Riipen is excited to continue our partnership with Thompson Rivers University. Working with faculty this past year has resulted in +400 student experiences and we look forward to continuing to support Thompson Rivers as they deliver programs focused on student success,” says Dana Stephenson, Founder and CEO of Riipen.
This partnership is made possible through the support of RBC Future Launch, a 10-year commitment to preparing students for the Future of Work. RBC and Riipen partnered in 2018 with the shared objective of enabling students with access to experiences that prepare them for the future of work. Thompson Rivers University is proud to be one of 30 academic institutions across Canada that have received access to this funding.
