Case study from the Riipen Level UP remote internship programMesh AI is a socially intelligent staff scheduling tool designed for healthcare professionals. Co-founder and CEO, Shahram Yousefi, worked with a number of students through the Level UP remote internship program, but one stand out was Liana Evans.
Liana was a Computer Science student at Queen’s University that worked with Mesh AI on a User Experience (UX) Level UP project. As a result of her quality recommendations and project deliverables, Liana was offered a full-time permanent position with Mesh AI and has since joined the company as their Chief of Customer Success.
Initially hired as a UX intern through the Level UP program, Liana was presented with an experimental project that allowed her to develop new skills while contributing immediate value to public health. Liana worked on improving the design of Mesh AI’s main offering, a healthcare scheduling software for clinics and other health facilities helping healthcare providers stay in control of their schedules.
Liana conducted customer interviews to identify their pain points and needs. From there, she worked on developing solutions to the identified customer problems which she then presented to the technology team for implementation. Many of the recommendations Liana had presented from her customer interviews were implemented into the product within weeks of the start of her Level UP project.
“She [Liana] is an employee of the company and I can't be any more proud of her and the team that she worked with to come here,” says Shahram. “We have Riipen to thank for thinking about [Level UP], as well as the Government of Canada for supporting it.”
Through her Level UP project, Liana was able to gain experience working with cross-functional teams, interact directly with customers, build a deeper understanding of what makes for great user experiences, and as a result of her great work, land a full-time position with the company.
Thank you to Liana for sharing her experience on Riipen. To learn more about how you can get started with the Level UP remote internship program as a student or employer, visit the website here.
