MB Property Management Inc. is a property management company in the greater Toronto area that specializes in managing investment properties with a dedicated multilingual team.
Through the Level UP remote internship program, MB Property Management’s CEO and Founder, Monique Brand, partnered with student Chloe Blondin for editing, copywriting, and social media development. Chloe organized and edited a year’s editorial content during the project.
A student at McMaster University, Chloe edited existing social media content, consulted on automating social media posts, and created blog posts for MB Property Management.
The Level UP project Chloe worked on gave her valuable, hands-on marketing experience. While working with MB Property Management, Chloe maintained a social media editorial calendar and produced blog copy. She advised Monique on implementing her small business’s social media strategy.
“The people I worked with appreciated my process and how I organized and managed content. It’s easy to apply these skills across industries.”
Chloe’s process worked very well for Monique.
“We complemented each other since we were on the same page with rolling out the project and keeping each other accountable through our Zoom calls, where we reviewed updates on her deliverables. We talked: ‘How's it going? What could be improved?’ So it was quite seamless,” Monique shared.
Working with Level UP students changed how Monique engages with her business. Because of Chloe’s insight, Monique’s time was freed to work on her business instead of in it.
“The Level UP program has allowed me to tap into the talents of people like Chloe. I now do the type of work that I wouldn't have been able to do without these resources. When you get a good student on your team, it motivates you to take on more projects,” Monique said enthusiastically.
Chloe gained more than copywriting and social media management skills while working with Monique. She also used critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assist Monique with essential business decisions.
“We were looking at platforms to automate social media posts. She had a chance to do some research, and we had consultations on Zoom calls, looking at the pros and cons of different platforms and talking out some of those problem-solving questions that would help us land a decision. I think it's fair to say that she's gained some great transferable skills from working on the project,” Monique shared.
Chloe enjoyed working with Monique’s small businesses and would recommend Riipen to those seeking valuable hands-on work experience.
“When you work with a small business like I did for the Level UP program, you can do many different things instead of being siloed in a large corporation, not seeing how everything relates. I would absolutely recommend Level UP,” Chloe shared.
Monique agrees. “Level UP is such an innovative program. I would love to champion it beyond my networks.”
